Our 2008 Saralee's Vineyard Pinot Noir is a dense and juicy wine that balances copious fruit with striking acidity. The Pinot Noir blocks at Saralee's Vineyard are ideally positioned to benefit from the cool and often foggy mornings of the Russian River Valley with its interstitial, warm afternoon embraces. In 2008, these conditions nurtured our blocks into a wine of focused flavors and excellent complexity. The 2008 vintage marries the overall grace of the 113 clone with the noteworthy contribution to structure provided by 23. This vintage shows good continuity with its 2007 counterpart with flavors that are well developed, elegant and floral, and just a touch flinty.
Inviting aromas of red cherry, dark berries, bramble, and a hint of sage capture your attention at the outset. Thick, red cherry and blue fruit are the focus on the palate. Lively acidity and supportive tannins carry this wine's rewarding flavors into the midpalate. A touch of vanilla accentuates the wine's lengthy, sensual finish. Representative food pairings: squab in its own juices, rare tournedos of beef, or cassoulet with duck or pork.
